It was learned at the 2026 Zhongguancun Forum – “Science and Technology Forum on Earth-Moon Space Development and Utilization” held on March 25 that the three experimental satellites of the Earth-Moon Long Distance Retrograde Orbit (DRO) pilot exploration mission, independently deployed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have been conducting experiments in orbit for two years. They have successfully completed the world’s first low-energy DRO orbit insertion, verifying the stable residence of spacecraft in DRO, low-energy maneuvering transfer, and new principles of space-based measurement, orbit determination, and navigation. They have also established a K-band inter-satellite link spanning 1.17 million kilometers, becoming the world’s first spacecraft to complete a single visit to all Lagrange points in Earth-Moon space. They will play an important role in supporting lunar exploration and other fields in the future.
