On the day of 14TH May 2025 Hours Hong- Kong SAR – Beijing time CNSA –China National Space Administration , China, People’s Republic of China At 1212 Hong Kong SAR- Beijing Time , the Chang Zheng -Long March 2D the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center using the Long March 2D carrier rocket. This launch is the 103rd space launch in the world in 2025, the 27th in China, the 3rd this month, the 9th for SAST, and the 4th for the Long March 2D.

The space computing satellite constellation is provided with launch services by China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation Commercial Rocket Co., Ltd. as the general contractor. The Long March 2D rocket is developed and manufactured by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.
The space computing satellite constellation is the first constellation of the “Star Computing” plan. It consists of 12 satellites developed by Guoxing Aerospace Corporation and carries the core key payload developed by Zhijiang Laboratory according to the “Three-Body Computing Constellation” standard.
The Space Computing Constellation 021 mission is the first constellation of the “Star Computing” plan initiated by Guoxing Aerospace, and it is also the first constellation of the “Three-Body Computing Constellation” of Zhijiang Laboratory. The constellation is invested by different entities and consists of 12 computing satellites in one orbit developed by Guoxing Aerospace. The
12 computing satellites of the first constellation use the intelligent networked satellite platform developed by Guoxing Aerospace. In addition to the AI payload developed by Guoxing Aerospace, it also carries Zhijiang Laboratory’s onboard intelligent computers and other space computing software and hardware and space-based models, realizing “computing power to the sky, networking on orbit, and models to the sky”.

Each satellite has an onboard intelligent computing system and an inter-satellite communication system, which can realize the interconnection of satellites in the entire orbit and have space on-orbit computing capabilities.
The highest computing power of a single satellite is 744TOPS, and the first constellation has a space computing power of 5POPS. The maximum inter-satellite laser communication rate can reach 100Gbps. After the constellation is networked, it will form the world’s strongest space computing power. The satellite is also equipped with a space-based model with 8 billion parameters, which will perform on-orbit tasks such as astronomical science observations.
In addition to space computing and space interconnection capabilities, the first constellation satellite is also equipped with a ground remote sensing payload. With the help of on-board computing capabilities, it will explore the real-time on-orbit processing of verification data, improve data processing efficiency by reducing data transmission costs and time delays, and provide satellite three-dimensional digital twin data and application services for industries such as emergency safety, low-altitude economy, and gaming and cultural tourism through the satellite spiritual engine.
It is worth mentioning that the satellite launched this time also carries a cosmic X-ray polarization detector developed by Guangxi University and the National Astronomical Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It will use the space-based astronomical time domain model to quickly detect, identify and classify various transient sources such as gamma-ray bursts on orbit, and trigger dual-satellite collaborative observations to achieve second-level judgment and 99% recognition accuracy, and promote the paradigm change of space science research with “artificial intelligence +
This mission is the 576th launch of the Long March series of carrier rockets.
