The Long March 12 carrier rocket was developed by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. The rocket adopts the simplest two-stage configuration and a 4-meter single-core design. The total length is about 62 meters and the takeoff weight is about 430 tons. The first stage uses four liquid oxygen/kerosene engines with a thrust of 1250 kilonewtons, and the second stage uses two liquid oxygen/kerosene engines with a thrust of 180 kilonewtons. The low-Earth orbit carrying capacity is not less than 12 tons, and the 700-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit carrying capacity is not less than 6 tons. It is currently China’s most powerful two-stage single-core rocket. It can be adapted to the 5.2-meter and 4.2-meter diameter configuration fairing according to mission requirements, and supports single-star and multi-star different orbit launches.
