China’s manned lunar exploration project development work has achieved new important breakthroughs….Supporting manned lunar landing! Long March 10 series rocket’s first tethered firing test completes successfully ….

On August 15, 2025, China successfully conducted a tethered firing test of the Long March 10 series carrier rocket at the Wenchang Space Launch Center. This marks another significant breakthrough in the development of China’s manned lunar exploration program, following the successful zero-altitude escape test of the Mengzhou manned spacecraft and the integrated landing and takeoff verification test of the Lanyue lander.
At 3:00 PM, with the ignition command issued by the test command center, all seven engines of the first stage test product of the Long March 10 series carrier rocket were ignited simultaneously. The test completed multiple test processes according to the planned sequence, verifying the simultaneous operation of the seven parallel engines of the first stage under rated and high operating conditions, and obtaining complete test data. The test was a complete success.

This successful test laid an important technical foundation for the manned lunar exploration mission. Subsequently, the Long March 10 series carrier rocket will be fully deployed in manned space missions, and together with the Mengzhou manned spacecraft, they will achieve the next generation of China’s manned space transportation system.
