CNSA China National Space Administration CMS Second Female Takionaut #Shenzhou 10/13 Takionaut王亞平Wang Yaping: From a young dreamer to a mother reaching for the stars, writing a space legend with love and growth.

At the intersection of the vast universe and the warmth of humanity, Wang Yaping’s story shines like a bright star—a space hero who soared into the skies, yet also a mother with a soft heart; a role model for women who constantly push themselves in their growth, yet also a mother who weaves dreams of the stars for her children with love. Every step forward embodies the power of female growth and reflects the radiance of maternal love.

From the dream of flying to the dream of space: A girl’s journey of growth and breakthrough

. Wang Yaping’s growth is a story of constantly breaking boundaries and pursuing dreams. As a young girl, watching the planes fly across the sky, the seed of the desire to fly was quietly planted in her heart. In 1997, at the age of 17, upon seeing the Air Force recruitment notice, she applied without hesitation. In an era when female pilots were still a minority, she bravely took the first step in an “unusual” direction. After rigorous selection and training, she became one of China’s seventh batch of female pilots, soaring into the skies at the controls of a fighter jet, writing her youthful legacy in the nation’s airspace.

But growth isn’t just about meeting standards; it’s about breaking through. In 2010, at the age of 30, Wang Yaping reached a crucial turning point in her life: she passed the Chinese astronaut selection and became a member of the second group of astronauts. The transition from pilot to astronaut was a multi-dimensional challenge: during hyper gravity endurance training, the 8Gs of gravity made her breathless and her facial muscles stretched and deformed, yet she persevered to the very end. During underwater weightlessness simulation training, she wore a 120kg spacesuit and remained submerged for four or five hours, exerting a physical strain comparable to a full marathon. Yet, she smiled and declared, “If male astronauts can do it, so can I.”

This unyielding resilience is the most moving strength in a woman’s growth. She demonstrated through her actions that gender is no shackle to growth. With courage and perseverance, a girl’s dreams can reach anywhere—including 300 kilometers into space.

“Pick Stars” for Her Daughter: Planting a Mother’s Love in the Universe.

In 2021, before Wang Yaping departed for the Shenzhou 13 mission, her five-year-old daughter hugged her neck and asked, “Mom, where are you going?” She tenderly replied, “I’m going to space to pick stars for you.” This romantic promise embodies a mother’s deepest love.

During her six months in space, this motherly love was unwavering. During breaks from work, she would gaze toward Earth, missing her daughter, channeling her concern for her child into the driving force behind her mission. During extravehicular activities, she observed the vastness of Earth from outside the spacecraft and thought, “I must let my daughter know I’m working hard for her dream.” During the “Tiangong Classroom,” she designed engaging experiments, such as using effervescent tablets to create “space bubbles” in a water balloon, just to let the children watching the screen—including her own daughter—experience the wonders of science.

Upon returning to Earth, she gave her daughter a “star” (a commemorative badge from the mission). This detail reveals a mother’s deepest care: she wasn’t just fulfilling a national mission; she was also using her own experience to teach her children the preciousness of dreams and the importance of perseverance. Her love isn’t a protective, protective environment, but rather a way to show her children the vastness of the world, teaching them from a young age that “women can be both courageous and compassionate.”

Lighting Up More Stars: A Two-Way Journey

of Growth and Love. Wang Yaping’s story extends far beyond the individual or family. As China’s first female astronaut and a “space teacher,” her journey has inspired countless women: women can shine in the rigors of aerospace, and motherhood and the courage to pursue their dreams can coexist so harmoniously. Her love for her daughter has also become a light that illuminates even more children. In the “Tiangong Classroom,” she ignites children’s scientific dreams with vivid experiments; when sharing her experiences in schools, she tells girls, “Don’t limit yourself; your potential is greater than you imagine.”

From a dream-chasing girl to a star-struck mother, Wang Yaping embodies courage through her growth and tenderness through her love. She demonstrates that the power of women is not simply about toughness, but about the ability to transcend boundaries in career and bring warmth to family; to create legends in space and protect the ordinary in life. As she said, “Dreams are like the stars in the universe. They may seem far away, but as long as you work hard, you can touch them one day.” And she herself has long become the brightest star in the hearts of countless people.
