On July 15 2025 #上海 Shanghai World Expo Museum Shanghai Ultra Mega City, China, People’s Republic of China….  The Nine Days to Reach the Moon – 20 Years of China’s Lunar Exploration Project Exhibition, co-organized by the Lunar Exploration and Space Engineering Center of the National Space Administration and the Shanghai World Expo Museum, was exhibited to the public at the World Expo Museum. The exhibition takes “technology + popular science, achievements + culture” as the main theme, and focuses on the historical background of the project, the development process, major achievements, future tasks, etc., and uses a narrative method that combines physical evidence with historical archives to systematically display the high-quality and high-efficiency lunar exploration path that China’s lunar exploration project has taken since the project was launched in 2004, guided by the three-step strategy of “orbiting, landing, and returning.” From “Chang’e-1” opening the chapter of China’s deep space exploration, to “Chang’e-5” returning triumphantly with lunar soil. “Nine Days to Reach the Moon – 20 Years of China’s Lunar Exploration Project” exhibition….

To implement the important instructions given by General Secretary Xi Jinping when he met with representatives of the Chang’e-6 mission participants, “We must vigorously promote the lunar exploration spirit of pursuing dreams, daring to explore, working together to overcome difficulties, and cooperating for win-win results throughout society”, on July 15, the “Reaching the Moon in the Ninth Sky – 20 Years of China’s Lunar Exploration Project” exhibition, co-organized by the Lunar Exploration and Space Engineering Center of the National Space Administration and the Shanghai World Expo Museum, was exhibited to the public at the World Expo Museum.

The exhibition is based on the theme of “Science and Technology + Popular Science, Achievements + Culture”. It focuses on the historical background, development process, major achievements, future tasks, etc. of the project. It uses a narrative method that combines physical evidence with historical archives to systematically show the high-quality and high-efficiency lunar exploration path that China’s lunar exploration project has taken since its inception in 2004, guided by the three-step strategy of “orbiting, landing, and returning”. From “Chang’e-1” opening the chapter of China’s deep space exploration to “Chang’e-5” returning with lunar soil.

The engineering development team tackled the key problems in an all-round way, and drew a blueprint to the end, step by step, from “following” and “running side by side” to partially “leading”, which injected strong momentum into the construction of a strong country in science and technology and aerospace, and made a significant contribution to promoting Chinese-style modernization in the new era. The exhibition vividly tells the arduous journey of the lunar explorers who turned the Chinese nation’s thousand-year dream of reaching the moon into reality with firm belief, systematically presents the organizational wisdom of “concentrating efforts on major tasks” with the efforts of the whole country, and deeply interprets the new era of lunar exploration spirit of “pursuing dreams, daring to explore, working together to overcome difficulties, and cooperating for win-win results”, fully demonstrating the major achievements and important significance of the lunar exploration project as a landmark project of my country’s major scientific and technological projects.

The 20-year lunar exploration project series of exhibitions has been successfully held in the National Museum of China, the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Hall, the Beijing Planetarium and other places, which has aroused enthusiastic response and wide attention from the society. As an important stop of the 20-year lunar exploration project tour, this exhibition is one of the 20-year lunar exploration project series of activities, which will last for 2 months. In the future, a series of activities such as the lunar exploration spirit propaganda will be launched.
