During the month of May 2015, it has been interesting in the Auckland night starry sky… as three planets appear in the southern Hemisphere graciously of two gaseous planets of Jupiter and arriving of Saturn in the mouth of the constellation of Scorpio… from the east… and one highly shiny atmospheric one naming Venus…. As the nights gets earlier also colder that means looking at starry stuff becomes crispy as the light emitted from far back in time… Gets less diffracted… also viewing Luna as well it’s sharper than summer…in which you can see the shadows of the moons sharper providing the Luna Landscape aswell as the Luna phase progresses through the month..

Given that you’re in the southern hemisphere, and in Auckland then this month you’ll get to see the mid summery night at eight in the evening, in which you’ll get to see the such constellations as Orion, Canis Major, Taurus, left west wise is the open cluster is the Pleiades, Planet Jupiter in pass the constellation of Gemini…as for the westerly south.. It’s three crosses, the false, diamond, and the very true Southern Cross in which will help you find your way…

As for the moon Luna however it’s been very full at the point of Chinese Luna New Year… which happens to be on for this year is on the very day of Valentine’s Day 14th February ….. At the moment even typing away on this keyboard.. It’s still very full… One thing though on a full moon or few days pass it, you’ll get to see most of the Luna surface, but not so much the depths of the Luna landscape thou..  But mostly you’ll get to see the Maria’s (seas) the larger dark patches of the moon…

When you see the moon wink at it either in night or day …. It’s a tribute the late Astronaut Neil Armstrong …

Lost in a southern type of way…?

SOUTH TWO points crux archerna

graphics are clip using stellarium

If you lost in somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere…? There’re three ways in finding your way in way found, finding your way around on this Planet’s southern parts. First thing, three things, bright starry objects in the night sky, the Southern Cross, The Canopus star also the Achernar.

Now this first method finding south is pretty much easy and effective, a you need is the star Crux, which is the, tail end of the Southern Cross (not to get confuse with the Diamond and false Cross, other wise shipwreack, very), and Achernar. Once found, draw a straight tangent line between the two star points, and bisect the line between Crux and Achernar. Once you found the bisect in between that’s the celestial south pole, then through left arm back one eighty degrees, you found North, then the ninety degrees from both arms you swing your left and right arms clockwise you found East on you Left and West on your Right.

With this in mind you’ll never get lost finding youir way around in the night without a compass, in the daytime that’s a different story.
