Those who are interested in astronomy or space science may have visited the  Hong Kong Space Museum, but in fact there are some other related education institutions in Hong Kong too. This time, we would like to introduce to you the Ho Koon Nature Education Cum Astronomical Centre located in 101 Route Twisk Tso Kung Tam Park, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong SAR –China – People’s Republic of China…… Ho Koon Centre is a local school that actively promotes astronomy education, field study and environmental education. Its service mainly targets to students, but the Centre also organises public educational activities and conducts professional astronomical observation from time to time.

The Hong Kong Space Museum will guide you to the Centre, and to follow Ho Koon’s teachers to learn more about these local astronomical activities and equipment, including professional astronomical telescope. Audiences can also interact with the teachers at the end of the programme and ask any questions about the facilities or other topic related to astronomy or space science. Don’t miss it!

Cinderella spotted at Hong Kong Station …As part of the programme in collaboration with the World’s leading number One public Transport provider MTR Hong Kong  unveiling the magic of arts technology with Cinderella in the realm of mixed reality! Jointly curated by the International Arts Carnival and the Hong Kong Ballet, an interactive exhibition will take place at the MTR Hong Kong Station, then Hong Kong Cultural Centre, offering viewers a sneak peek into the fairy-tale kingdom. As you walk by the exhibition and mimic the images, Cinderella and other characters will come to life dancing in front of you. Using QR codes on site and links on HKB’s social media platforms, you can create your very own palace scene with AR Instagram filters.

《你好！火星》Hello Mars Episode Three The content of this issue: On February 10, 2021, 202 days have passed since the launch of Tianwen-1. After a trek of 475 million kilometers, Mars is close at hand. At this time, the earth has circled the sun and has walked half a circle. Mars Falling behind, it is nearly 200 million kilometers away from the earth, and it takes 11 minutes for light to travel this distance. The main engine nozzle of the orbiter is facing forward, and it is about to ignite and brake. After a series of operation controls, Tianwen-1 has become an artificial Mars satellite.

本期内容：2021年2月10日，距离天问一号发射已经过去了202天，经过4.75亿公里的跋涉，火星近在眼前，此时地球已经绕着太阳，走过了大半圈，火星落在了后面，距离地球将近两亿公里，光线飞越这段距离也需要11分钟。环绕器主发动机喷口朝前，即将点火制动刹车，经过一系列的操作控制，天问一号成为了人造火星卫星。

Hello everyone, I would like to tell you some good news about the documentary “Hello!” about China’s first Mars exploration mission. “Mars” is finally on the air, friends who want to know more about Mars can stay in front of the TV tonight

“Hello! “Mars” is a large-scale scientific documentary jointly produced by the National Space Administration and China Central Radio and Television to commemorate the first anniversary of the Tianwen-1 Mars probe’s successful landing on Mars. It took three years to complete the filming and is divided into “Departure” and “Journey” “Surrounding”, “Landing” and “Patrol” have 5 episodes, each of which is 30 minutes long. They focus on the important stages of the Tianwen-1 mission, and describe a large number of astronomy, astrophysics, space applications, aerospace engineering and other disciplines in a simple way. Knowledge, in-depth analysis of Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions in Mars exploration. Since May 2020, the co-production team has continued to track the key nodes of the Tianwen-1 mission, filmed many wonderful moments, and obtained a large number of first-hand precious materials. Many of the contents of the documentary were made public for the first time and were released authoritatively.

On 12 May, the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) revealed the first image or shadow of the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* (Sgr A*). It is also the second black hole ever to be “seen” in human history.

EHT started observing the two black holes lurking at the centre of the M87 galaxy and the Milky Way in 2017. Sgr A*, our nearest black hole neighbour in the heart of our galaxy, is about 27,000 light-years away from Earth. Being about 2,000 times closer to Earth than the M87 black hole, the Sgr A* black hole should be an easier target to observe. However, why would its image come three years after the first image of the distant M87 galaxy? What are the challenges and difficulties of discovering, observing, and analysing this mysterious supermassive black hole?

In this lecture, we are honoured to have Prof Chan Chi-kwan, a member of the EHT team from Hong Kong, and the Associate Professor from the University of Arizona to introduce the characteristics of Sgr A* black hole and explain how to render the black hole image from mammoth amounts of data. The lecture will be live-streamed on the Space Museum’s YouTube Channel too. Therefore, whether you stay home or come to our Museum, you can also get to know this astronomy breakthrough with us!

【太空館活動】凝望銀河中心－探索超級黑洞人馬座A*之秘

「事件視界望遠鏡」計劃 (Event Horizon Telescope, EHT) 喺5月12日公布超級黑洞人馬座A* (Sagittarius A*, Sgr A*) 嘅第一張剪影影像，亦都係是人類史上第二個「睇」到嘅黑洞。

早喺2017年，EHT已着手觀測M87星系同銀河系中心嘅黑洞。位於銀河系中心嘅人馬座A*黑洞係目前已知離我哋最近嘅超大質量黑洞，距離地球約27,000光年，比M87黑洞近約2000倍，理應更易觀測。但係點解佢嘅「面貌」會比M87黑洞遲三年先首度面世呢？從發現、到觀測同分析呢個神秘嘅超級黑洞又有咩困難同挑戰？

喺今次嘅講座，我哋有幸邀請到EHT團隊中嘅香港成員，美國亞利桑那大學副教授陳志均教授為我哋拆解人馬座A*嘅特性，同講解如何從大量數據重組黑洞影像。講座更會喺太空館嘅YouTube頻道同步直播，所以大家無論安在家中，抑或親身嚟到現場都可以一齊了解呢個天文學研究嘅重大突破！
