Looking out the April night sky in Auckland and having going through the changes of out of Daylight savings, means the night sky only gets very early dark…  In this I notice that the skies are getting colder, in that the starry light is a little sharper, than to the summery nights.  Noticing from the westward view the Orion constellation is settling down early now. Looking back only a couple of weeks ago the Planets Mars and even more later Saturn rising in the East.. Having Mars only blushing Reddish more… in as it rise from the horizon..  Saturn is still an amazing sight to been seen, with its slight angled rings…

As for the moon its duration phases are quite revealing in showing the depths of the craters by the casted shadows, in itself slowly revealing its grey-ish white Luna surface… showing its city large craters.. one nice thing is when you look at edge of the moon you could see the distinctive features of height of the Luna circumference crater heights…

JULY-2013 Night sky

This month of July is spotted, in wintery Auckland, New Zealand, she is caught up in a weathered crowd of misty clouds as she entered into a rave of ravers of stars in the night sky. As the weathering favours the rain rather than the glittery clear night sky.

Among the ravers, Saturn arriving earlier, still hanging in between his entourage the constellation Virgo and Libra rises at 1300 hours but best to catch up with him during the 1800 into the evening has he says farewell to Venus as she settles down to catch up with her other friends at 1930 hours following with Sol, the sun.

Among the regular’s raver’s goers of the wintery night sky, are the constellation Scorpio, Sagittarius, and accompany by Ophiuchus below following Saturn’s entourage following in the direction of east to west. Among that nearby group is the Dj’s of Auckland’s night sky, is the Crux the southern cross, pointed out by the Pointers alpha centauri aka Rigel Kent and , and the right of the southern cross is the support crew the Diamond Cross, and the False Cross.

During last of later months is the observation of the Chinese space station orbiting overhead, in that was rare to see, it’s reflective brightness is very much less but could make out the long cylinder structure, instead of the 108 meters width of the international space stations H’ reflective structure, which glows reflectively bright by its dual four solar panels power source.

As to Matariki, Pleiades, Subaru, or known as the seven sisters, the sisters are celebrated by the dawn of the Maori New Year last month of 22th of June in which you could see the sisters at very early morning of 0500 hours looking out into the nearby east in the protection of  the constellation Taurus.

At the moment over here, its winter, it’s getting colder than the month before. Temperature wise it’s barely making least than fifteen degrees C, over here in Auckland.   Beanies are a fashionably a must to keep you head warm plus to keep your head avoid from getting head chills.

At the moment spotted, Saturn is still in between the constellation Virgo also Libra, in the evening hours of earlier, between 1900 to 22 hours at night, viewability.  The constellation Scorpio rises very early than a few months ago, rising very early in the later 1900 hours in the evening.

Saturn’s rising 1500 in the afternoon then its best seen from eastward in 63 degrees, at 1900 hours.  Luna, the moon recently rises very moderately early in the morning at 1020 hours, more lately in the evening settling at 2120 hours, at the moment for this week a quite haunted crescently shrouded moon, due this months clouded weathering.

One interesting thing this month, is that the southern cross gets higher also akin to the pointers, which points to the southern cross, in which one of many of four methods waypoints to find the southern pole in the night sky, among in which risen higher is the two cluster within or nearby Centaurs constellation is the global cluster Omega centurial also its open cluster the Jewel box its alias is known to be Kappa Crucis nearby the constellation in Crux.   As they rise up overhead, it becomes very hard to view on the telescope due that your viewing is very upwards.

So when you look up, beanie, warm layering clothing, hot chocolate, naming Milo, and a good stead fast telescope,  moderately excellent  camera gear taking those timeless photographs digitally, also a brilliant well robust Laptop in recording those starry timeless moments.

This month you’re in for a treat in the Auckland’s night sky. Within this month early you’ll get to see two gaseous planets, both summer and winter ones, Jupiter and also Saturn. Jupiter falls very early setting in for the night about 2050 hours westwards in with the constellation of Taurus, below the red giant star Aldebaran, the eye of the bull. As for the Saturn it rises very now early from the eastwards of Auckland in about 1900 hours, but it’s best to wait for about either hour or two later to get the best view possible onwards as it progressively moves to west, which is in between two constellations Virgo and Libra, follow by Scorpio. As Auckland moves towards winter, in which it’s the best time of the month to view the Orion Nebula before it settle down in within the next couple of months. But the good news is that you’ll get to see more of the Jewel box open cluster also its closed Omega Centauri nearby southwardly and left wise of Epsilon Centauri.
