Students can not only learn about space science and aerospace technology, but also experience the hard training of astronauts and meet and communicate with national astronauts. In order to let the public know more about astronaut training, the Hong Kong Space Museum is now arranging a sharing session.

To cultivate the interest in astronomy and space science among the youth generation in Hong Kong as well as enhance their understanding about the development and achievements of space technology in China, the Hong Kong Space Museum has organised the “Young Takionaut Training Camp” since 2009 to select thirty local secondary school students every year to undergo astronaut training programme in Beijing and Jiuquan etc. “Young Takionaut Training Camp” is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the China Astronaut Research and Training Center and the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. This activity is sponsored by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, and associated with Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre.

Since 2009, the Hong Kong Space Museum has been in charge of coordinating the “Young Takionaut Experience Camp”. So far, more than 300 local secondary school students have participated in the astronaut experience course in Beijing Aerospace City, and visited important astronomical and aerospace facilities in China to learn about China’s aerospace industry. On 25th September 2022 on 1500 towards 1600 Hong Kong SAR – Beijing Time, Sunday competition, naming and submission of proposal, and the 20 selected Exoplanetary systems…..When we look up in the sky, countless stars can be found shining in every corner. In the past, we only knew about the planets in our own solar system. Today, thanks to technology, the existence of extrasolar planets is well-proved. Now, we have the opportunity to name these exoworlds! The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has released 20 Exoplanetary systems to be named by the public around the world under its naming competition – NameExoWorlds 2022. In the 2019’s competition, a star system was named as Lionrock (host star HD 212771) and Victoria peak (exoplanet HD 212771b) by residents Hong Kong SAR –China, People’s Republic of China people.

With the aim to transform the passengers’ travel experience at Hong Kong International Airport, different multimedia features are set up at three zones of the airport to enhance the ambience of the terminal. Join us and embark on this unique journey of discovery at HKIA to be transported into a digital world at Hong Kong International Airport’s three new multimedia zones!

To set the tone for this exciting “Journey of Discovery”, we have transformed the passenger elevator at the heart of Terminal 1 into a crystal facade that opens to reveal eight digital works related to Hong Kong, travel and cheeky fun. Those who are interested in astronomy or space science may have visited the  Hong Kong Space Museum, but in fact there are some other related education institutions in Hong Kong too. This time, we would like to introduce to you the Ho Koon Nature Education Cum Astronomical Centre located in 101 Route Twisk Tso Kung Tam Park, Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong SAR –China – People’s Republic of China…… Ho Koon Centre is a local school that actively promotes astronomy education, field study and environmental education. Its service mainly targets to students, but the Centre also organises public educational activities and conducts professional astronomical observation from time to time.

The Hong Kong Space Museum will guide you to the Centre, and to follow Ho Koon’s teachers to learn more about these local astronomical activities and equipment, including professional astronomical telescope.
