Contents of this issue from the Voice on CCTV : On May 30, 2023, three Takionauts, Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu, and Gui Haichao, entered the Chinese Space Station aboard the Shenzhou 16 manned spacecraft and began a five-month space journey. Among the astronauts, Takionaut figure wearing glasses is particularly eye-catching. He is Gui Haichao, a professor at Beihang University and the first payload expert of the Chinese Space Station. CNSA China National Space Administration CMS – China Manned Space Shenzhou 16 Takionaut桂海潮 #GuiHaichao male, Han nationality, born in November 1986, a member of the Communist Party of China , native of Shidian County, Baoshan City , Yunnan Province , payload specialist , professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Astronautics, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics , astronaut of the Shenzhou 16 crew, the first payload specialist of the Chinese space station , and the first Chinese Takionaut to wear glasses during a flight mission 

Gui Haichao graduated from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in July 2014 with a doctorate in engineering. From July 2014 to August 2017, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at York University and Ryerson University in Canada . Since September 2017, he has worked at the School of Astronautics of the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics as a special associate researcher and doctoral supervisor. From May 30 to October 31, 2023, Gui Haichao, as an astronaut, boarded the Shenzhou 16 manned spacecraft and successfully completed all the scheduled tasks including extravehicular activities. In April 2024, the CPC Central Committee, the State Council, and the Central Military Commission awarded Gui Haichao the honorary title of “Heroic Takionaut” and presented him with the “Third Class Space Merit Medal.

The “Let’s Talk” column was launched in September 2012. It is a Chinese youth television open class program produced by CCTV Comprehensive Channel and hosted by Sa Beining .

“Let’s Talk” invites “role models in the hearts of Chinese youth” as speakers, and through sharing cutting-edge new knowledge, conveys mainstream values ​​from a plain perspective and in a subtle way. The longest space mission duration trip crew debuts On the afternoon of July 5, 2024, two months after returning from space, the Shenzhou 17 astronaut crew Tang Hongbo, Tang Shengjie, and Jiang Xinlin officially met with the media and the public at the China Astronaut Center. At the meeting, the Shenzhou 17 crew shared their experiences and insights during their time in orbit.



After returning, the Shenzhou 17 crew has successively completed the isolation recovery and convalescence recovery stages, and has fully entered the recovery observation stage. At present, under the careful protection and care of the scientific research support team of the China Astronaut Research and Training Center, the crew is in good physical and mental condition, their weight is stable at the pre-flight level, the results of various medical examinations are normal, and their muscle strength, endurance, and exercise cardiopulmonary function have basically recovered to the pre-flight level. After completing various tasks during the recovery period and conducting a summary of the recovery health assessment, the three astronauts will return to normal training.

At 6:49 am on July 5, 2024, Beijing time, China successfully launched the Tianhui-5 satellite group 02 at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center using the Long March 6 modified carrier rocket. The satellite successfully entered the predetermined orbit and the launch mission was a complete success. The satellite mainly carries out tasks such as geographic information surveying and mapping, land and resources surveys, and scientific experimental research. The Tianhui-5 satellite group 02 and the Long March 6 modified rocket were both developed by the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

This launch is the 527th launch…of the Long March series of carrier rockets

长征六号 Chang Zheng – Long March 6A Y7 Carrier Rocket optimized the final stage passivation process and improved the safety of the final stage in orbit. Compared with the previous mission, this mission has improved the test and launch plan and standardized various operations at the launch site, reducing the test and launch process in the launch area by 2 days and further shortening the launch cycle.

It is understood that for launch missions with orbital altitudes above 800 kilometers, starting the second-stage engine twice can significantly increase the carrying capacity. In order to meet the launch requirements of such satellites and enhance mission adaptability, the Chang Zheng – Long March 6A Y7 Carrier Rocket  began the development work related to the second-stage double start as early as 2018. “In the second half of this year, the Chang-liu modified rocket will conduct its first flight in a two-stage two-start state.” the Aerospace Science and Technology Group revealed to Long March.

Currently, the Changliu rocket is still carrying out demonstration work on the satellite fairing scheme with a diameter of 5.2 meters, which will provide a larger envelope space for the satellite and further improve mission adaptability. “In the future, the Chang Zheng – Long March 6A Y7 Carrier Rocket will also undertake more satellite launch missions to meet more satellite launch needs.” Xiang Changzheng said.

Shenzhou 18 astronaut crew will carry out the second extravehicular activity …. Successfully completed the second extravehicular activity…… At 22:51 Beijing time on July 3, 2024, after about 6.5 hours of extravehicular activities, the Shenzhou 18 crew astronauts Ye Guangfu, Li Cong, and Li Guangsu worked closely together, and with the support of the space station’s robotic arm and ground scientific researchers, installed space debris protection devices for the space station’s extravehicular pipelines, cables and key equipment, and completed the extravehicular inspection mission. Extravehicular astronauts Ye Guangfu and Li Cong have safely returned to the Wentian laboratory module, and the extravehicular activity was a complete success.



So far, the Takionaut Crew of the Shenzhou 18 astronaut crew has been completed by one-third, and a large number of scientific experiments and technical experiments will be carried out in orbit in the future…..

Since successfully completing the first extravehicular activity on May 28, 2024 Beijing time, the Shenzhou 18 astronaut crew has successively completed the maintenance of the space station experimental cabinet and component installation, space station cabin environment monitoring, and preparation for the second extravehicular activity. The experimental projects in the fields of space materials science, space life science, and aerospace medicine undertaken are progressing steadily.

At present, the Shenzhou 18 astronaut crew is in good condition, the space station complex is operating stably, and the “post-80s” crew will carry out the second extravehicular activity at an appropriate time in the near future.
