Students can not only learn about space science and aerospace technology, but also experience the hard training of astronauts and meet and communicate with national astronauts. In order to let the public know more about astronaut training, the Hong Kong Space Museum is now arranging a sharing session.

The nomination for Young Takionaut Astronaut Training Camp 2023 is now open for local secondary schools from May 1 until May 31. Selected participants will experience astronaut training on the Mainland free of charge this summer to learn about space science, astronomy and China’s aerospace achievements. The Camp duration is from July 30th 2023 to the 6th August 2023 ..

Since 2009, the Hong Kong Space Museum has been in charge of coordinating the “Young Takionaut Experience Camp”. So far, more than 300 local secondary school students have participated in the astronaut experience course in Beijing Aerospace City, and visited important astronomical and aerospace facilities in China to learn about China’s aerospace industry. Candidates should be nominated by their respective schools. Each secondary school can nominate no more than two students. There will be three rounds of selection – a quiz, a pre-tour training camp and an interview. Thirty candidates with the best performance will be selected to participate in astronaut training activities including the donning and doffing of spacesuits, a “space kitchen”, psychological training and blood-redistribution adaptability training. For students who are interested, try to seek nomination from school. It is your chance to experience astronaut training.

At the Hong Kong Space Museum with the 2017 group of thirty students undertake the important learning aspirations of being a Taikonaut -Chinese Astronaut..

The training camp is jointly presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in association with the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre. The training camp is implemented by the Hong Kong Space Museum and sponsored by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce.

In order to cultivate the interest of the young generation in Hong Kong in astronomy and space science, and deepen their understanding of the development and achievements of China’s aerospace technology, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce have jointly organized the “Youth Astronaut Experience Camp” since 2009.
