At 01:24 morning Beijing time on November 4, 2024, the return capsule of the Shenzhou 18 manned spacecraft carrying Takionauts Ye Guangfu, Li Cong and Li Guangsu landed in the western area of ​​the Dongfeng landing site. At 02:15, all three Takionauts successfully exited the cabin, and the Shenzhou 18 manned flight mission came to a successful conclusion.

“Shenzhou 18” is the 7th manned flight mission of China’s manned space station project and the 5th crew rotation mission, with a mission cycle of half a year. The manned spacecraft was launched at 20:59 on April 25, 2024, and docked at the radial port of the Tianhe module at 03:32 on the 26th. The crew officially started the space station stay. During this mission, the “Shenzhou 18” crew supported more than 90 space science experiments and technical experiments, including life ecology science experiments and material extravehicular exposure experiments, and carried out 2 Takionaut extravehicular activities and supported several cargo extravehicular activities. China’s longest-flying Takionaut crew

From the launch at 20:59 on April 25 to the return landing at 01:24 on November 4, the Shenzhou 18 crew flew for 192 days, 4 hours and 26 minutes, surpassing the Shenzhou 15 crew to become China’s longest-flying Takionaut crew. The Shenzhou 15 crew was launched at 23:08 on November 29, 2022, and landed at 06:33 on June 4, 2023, with a flight time of 186 days, 16 hours and 35 minutes.

Ye Guangfu becomes China’s Takionaut with the longest cumulative flight time

Astronaut Ye Guangfu has already performed a manned flight mission for the second time. Previously, Ye Guangfu, as Takionaut No. 03, partnered with astronaut No. 01 Zhai Zhigang and astronaut No. 02 Wang Yaping to perform the “Shenzhou XIII” mission. The mission spacecraft was launched at 00:23 on October 16, 2021, and landed at 09:56 on April 16, 2022, with a flight time of 182 days, 9 hours and 33 minutes. Cumulatively, astronaut Ye Guangfu has accumulated 374 days, 13 hours and 59 minutes of flight time, becoming the first Chinese Takionaut to exceed 1 year of cumulative flight time. This is not only a new achievement for astronaut Ye Guangfu himself, but also reflects the achievements made by China’s manned space program in the 32 years since its establishment and implementation.

Ye Guangfu sets a new record for the longest single spacewalk in China

At 10:35 Beijing time on May 28, 2024, Ye Guangfu and Li Guangsu, Takionauts of the Shenzhou 18 crew, started the first extravehicular activity of the mission. At 18:58, after 8 hours and 23 minutes of extravehicular operations, the two Takionauts successfully completed the extravehicular activity and returned to the Wentian laboratory module. During this extravehicular mission, Ye Guangfu’s extravehicular time reached 8 hours and 23 minutes, setting a new record for the length of time for a single extravehicular activity by a Chinese astronaut.

After the Takionauts of the Shenzhou 18 return to the ground, they will immediately enter a three to six month post-return recovery phase, and the initial stage of this phase is a few hours of gravity re-adaptation at the landing site. The Shenzhou 18 mission is the 13th manned flight mission of China’s manned space program and the 32nd flight mission of the program.

The Shenzhou 18 manned spacecraft carrying three Takionauts was launched at 20:58 on April 25, 2024, and docked at the radial port of the Tianhe module at 03:32 on the 26th. During this trip, the Shenzhou 18 crew flew for 192 days, 4 hours and 26 minutes, becoming the longest-flying astronaut crew in China to date. 【The launch of the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft was a complete success

At 4:27 am on October 30, 2024, Beijing time, the Long March 2F Yao 19 carrier rocket carrying the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft ignited and launched at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. About 10 minutes later, the Shenzhou 19 manned spacecraft successfully separated from the rocket and entered the predetermined orbit. The astronaut crew was in good condition and the launch was a complete success.

After the spacecraft enters orbit, it will conduct autonomous rapid rendezvous and docking with the space station assembly according to the predetermined procedure. The Shenzhou 19 Takionaut crew will rotate in orbit with the Shenzhou 18 Takionaut crew. During their work and life in the space station, the Shenzhou 19 Takionaut crew will conduct multiple extravehicular activities, carry out experiments and applications in the fields of microgravity basic physics, space materials science, space life science, aerospace medicine, and aerospace technology, and complete various tasks such as the installation of space station debris protection devices, and the installation and recovery of extravehicular payloads and extravehicular platform equipment.

This mission is the fourth manned flight mission of China’s manned space program in the space station application and development stage, the 33rd launch mission since the project was launched, and the 543rd flight of the Long March series of launch vehicles.

Cai Xuzhe will be leading the Shenzhou-19 mission alongside newcomers Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze, the China Manned Space Agency has announced.

The spacecraft is set for liftoff at 4.27am on Wednesday 30th October 2024 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.

“The torch of space exploration of the Shenzhou crew… has now been passed to our post-90s generation. I am very proud of this,” said Song Lingdong at a press conference.

Wang, the nation’s only female space flight engineer, said she’s giving it all.

“With every sunrise and sunset, we’d like to make them the landmarks of our journey to the universe,” she said.

The length of the car was increased by 29 centimeters, and the number of seats was reduced to facilitate the Takionauts wearing heavy space suits. On October 29, 2024, according to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, after research and decision by the Space Station Application and Development Phase Flight Mission Command, the astronaut crew for the Shenzhou 19 manned flight mission will consist of three Takionauts: Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze, with Cai Xuzhe as the commander. The crew includes one Takionaut from the second batch and two astronauts from the third batch. 蔡旭哲Cai Xuzhe

 Male, Han nationality, was born in May 1976 in Shenzhou, Hebei Province. He joined the army in September 1995 and joined the Communist Party of China in May 1998. He graduated from the School of Management of Xi’an Jiaotong University with a master’s degree in industrial engineering and holds the rank of Army Colonel. He is currently a first-class astronaut of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Astronaut Brigade and the commander of the Shenzhou 19 Takionaut crew.

Cai Xuzhe studied at the Baoding Branch of the Changchun Air Force Flight Academy in his early years He later served as deputy commander of a flight squadron of an Air Force aviation regiment and was rated as a first-class pilot in the Air Force.  In May 2010, he was selected into the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Astronaut Brigade and became China’s second batch of astronauts.  In December 2019, he was selected to join the Shenzhou 14 flight crew. [54]On June 5, 2022, Cai Xuzhe, Chen Dong and Liu Yang will carry out the Shenzhou 14 manned flight mission. [During the mission, the three people stayed in orbit for 6 months, carried out 3 extravehicular activities, completed the installation and commissioning of the space station’s internal and external equipment and facilities related to space application missions, carried out a series of space science experiments and technical tests, and returned safely on December 4, 2022. The Shenzhou 14 manned flight mission was the most complex, technically difficult, and labor-intensive manned flight mission since the construction of the Chinese space station in orbit. It was the first time that two manned spacecraft were in orbit at the same time and two groups of astronauts rotated in orbit. It set a world record for the fastest rendezvous and docking of a cargo spacecraft with a space station and a new Chinese record for three extravehicular activities in a single manned flight mission, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction and operation of the space station.  In October 2024, Cai Xuzhe was selected to join the Shenzhou 19 flight crew, forming a crew with Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze , and serving as the commander.

Male, Han nationality, was born in August 1990, from Cao County, Shandong Province. He joined the army in September 2008 and joined the Communist Party of China in March 2013. He graduated from the Air Force Aviation University of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army with a bachelor’s degree and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the Air Force. He is currently a fourth-level astronaut of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Astronaut Brigade and an astronaut of the Shenzhou 19 spacecraft….

In 2008, Song Lingdong enlisted in the military and became a pilot. He was once the squadron leader of a flight squadron of an Air Force brigade and was rated as a first-class pilot of the Air Force. In September 2020, he was selected as one of China’s third batch of Takionauts. In October 2024, Song Lingdong was selected to join the Shenzhou 19 flight crew , along with Cai Xuzhe and Wang Haoze , with Cai Xuzhe serving as the commander.  Song Lingdong thus became China’s first male Takionaut born in the 1990s

In the same year, she joined the Beijing Aerospace Propulsion Institute and was engaged in the overall design of new rocket engines . In September 2020, he was selected as one of China’s third batch of Takionauts. After a comprehensive assessment, he was selected as a member of the Shenzhou 19 manned flight mission crew. In January 2021, he joined the military. In 2023, he was selected to join the Shenzhou 19 crew, carrying out the mission together with Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong .In October 2024, he will be selected to join the astronaut crew for the Shenzhou 19 manned mission. 

Wang Haoze is China’s first female space flight engineer and will be the third Chinese woman Takionaut..

China’s fourth batch of Takionauts, including two payload specialists from Hong Kong and Macao SARs, will prepare for not only space station operations but also manned Moon Landing missions. Their current training starting in August includes piloting moon rovers and conducting spacewalks on the lunar surface.

[China’s first gold medal rocket carries out constellation satellite launch mission]


The three satellites of the “Remote Sensing 43” 03 group were developed by the Fifth Academy, the Eighth Academy and the Second Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, and are mainly used to carry out new technology tests for low-orbit constellation systems.

The “Long March 2C” is a medium-sized room-temperature liquid carrier rocket developed by the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, with a two-stage tandem structure. The “Long March 2C” is China’s first “gold medal rocket”, with the advantages of many flight samples, high reliability, short launch cycle and moderate carrying capacity. The rocket is about 42.3 meters long, with a diameter of 3.35 meters for the first and second stages. It can be equipped with three types of fairings: 3350M (diameter 3.35 meters), 3350L (diameter 3.35 meters) and 4200C (diameter 4.2 meters). The takeoff mass is 241 tons, and its low-Earth orbit (LEO) capacity is 4.7 tons.

This rocket is equipped with a 4.2-meter diameter fairing and an extended central bearing tube, which allows the satellite to be connected in a side-mounted manner. At the same time, in this mission, the “Long March 2C” rocket used a brand-new unified ground test, launch and control equipment for the first time at the Xichang Launch Center. The number of equipment systems and the area occupied were greatly reduced, and the generalization rate was high.



Since its successful first flight on September 9, 1982, the “Long March 2C” has carried out 79 launch missions, 78 of which were successful (including 1 partial success), with a success rate of 98.73%. Before the end of this year, the “Long March 2C” rocket will also carry out multiple launch missions.

This launch is the fifth launch of the Long March 2C carrier rocket in 2024, the 16th launch from the Xichang Launch Center, the 51st launch in China, and the 193rd orbital space launch in the world.

 The Shenzhou 19 ship-rocket combination was transferred to the launch area on the 22nd of this month, and is scheduled to be launched at an appropriate time in the near future. Today, the launch site organized various units to carry out a full system rehearsal.


All positions of the test and launch system of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center participated in this rehearsal. Under the unified dispatch of the launch site system, the tower, rocket, spacecraft and other subsystems carried out functional inspections, and implemented a full-process simulation exercise from flight preparation, ignition and takeoff to ship-rocket separation. The three astronauts of Shenzhou 19 performed the flight mission in accordance with the process simulation. After entering the spacecraft’s return capsule, they began a joint inspection and test of people, ships, rockets, and the ground, and completed all key operations of the standby and takeoff stages during the rocket’s simulated takeoff.
