Galactic Energy will soon launch its “Zhyss-1 (YY1)” commercial launch vehicle, mission name: “Riding the Azure Dragon Across the Galaxy.”
The Zess-1 is a two-stage liquid-propellant launch vehicle primarily targeting the large-scale constellation deployment and large satellite launch market. The first stage uses seven CQ-50 rockets in parallel, with an optional Eros upper stage. It has a liftoff mass of approximately 283 tons, a low-Earth orbit payload capacity of 7 tons, and can meet the requirements for vertical recovery and reusability of the sub-stages
Galactic Energy officially announced that its medium-to-large reusable liquid-fueled launch vehicle, “Zhishenxing-1 (YY1),” will conduct its maiden flight soon, with the mission codenamed “Riding the Azure Dragon Across the Galaxy.”

- Launch announcement : On August 3, 2026, Galactic Energy officially announced that it will launch the “Zhishenxing-1 (YY1)” commercial launch vehicle mission at an opportune time in the near future. The mission name is “Riding the Azure Dragon and Floating on the Milky Way”.
- Rocket status : On July 30, the Y1 rocket was erected at the launch site and entered the pre-launch state.
- Time window : Based on information from all parties, the maiden flight is scheduled for mid-to-late August, with the specific launch window to be determined based on weather conditions and pre-launch checks.
II. Rocket Core Parameters and Design Highlights
- Basic configuration : Pallas-1 is a two-stage liquid-fueled launch vehicle, with an optional Eros upper stage. It has a takeoff mass of approximately 283 tons and a low Earth orbit (LEO) payload capacity of 7 tons.428
- Power system : seven CQ-50 liquid oxygen kerosene engines are connected in parallel in the first stage, and one vacuum CQ-50 engine is installed in the second stage; the engines have deep variable thrust capability (32%–105%) and multiple start-up function to meet the vertical recovery requirements of the sub-stage
- Reusability target : Adopting a single-stage vertical recovery design, designed for reuse at least 25 times, targeting the low-cost commercial launch market.
III. Mission Objectives and Subsequent Plans for the First Flight
- First flight strategy : The primary goal of this first flight will be to verify the orbital insertion capability and acquire flight data; a first-stage recovery will not be performed at this time.41126
- Subsequent arrangements : Recovery tests will be carried out gradually in subsequent launches. The guidance and control scheme will be optimized based on the data from the maiden flight before a precise landing verification is implemented.
- Industrial significance : With reusable rockets entering the practical verification stage, China’s commercial space industry is moving from the “experimental stage” to “large-scale commercial use,” and launch costs are expected to drop from 60,000 yuan per kilogram to below 20,000 yuan
